Favre wonders if he really belongs in Hall of Fame

Yeah I know your saying Marvin Harrison is on a lot of my list but that’s because he was a gamechanger is every aspect of the word.

Two of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck, will be on hand for Sunday’s Hall of Fame game.

And to think Favre received only one college scholarship offer (Southern Mississippi).

For 11 games, Brett Favre had the Jets thinking 2008 could be the year.

It seems like Favre always had the confidence he could make the throw. That Mariucci has been by Favre’s side most of the weekend says a lot about the bond they forged many years ago. That slid into the “Indiana Jones” theme, which could be played over any batch of Favre’s unscripted out-of-the-pocket escape highlights.

So when Rodgers’ Green Bay Packers — yes, the franchise Favre helped revitalize in the 1990s — and Luck’s Indianapolis Colts, who won the 2007 Super Bowl with Dungy as coach and Harrison as the leading receiver, face off to open the NFL’s preseason, Favre figures to still be in the spotlight.

“It’s all about the big announcement”, Eisen said before a dramatic pause. He announced his retirement, then turned around and unretired. Then, he recognized something the first time he saw the montage of video highlights. “I would have liked to have seen how it ended up had I not had a torn bicep, because at one point, I wanted to remove myself from playing”. Friday, we’re hearing from some guys who were in the locker room with Favre, but never on the field at the same time as him. His legacy also includes the several times he retired and un-retired to join the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings.

“I was so impressed with how tough he is I remember one time a coach telling me when you get done playing the best compliment you can receive as a football player at any level is how tough you are, and that guys tough is all you want to hear right, what Favre did, the way he played hurt, he played banged up all the time, I mean I loved him, I loved playing with him”, Bowen said.

What makes that play so special? “He has got the makeup, it appears, and I’m really excited about him”. “That fundamental change in how owners looked at players and how they related to each other, I think changed the dynamic for how the CBA was negotiated 15 years later, and players are now truly partners with the owners”.

For Favre, the moment hasn’t sunk in yet. It’s not supposed to sink in yet, he said. I can’t say that I was the most mobile.

When it comes to retirement, Favre is a Hall-of-Fame waffler who could never decide what he actually wanted to do, which means that it was only a matter of time this week before someone asked him if he would be willing to return to the National Football League in the right situation. Favre told packers.com recently.

Less than a year later, Wolf became the Packers’ general manager.

“And Brett … it’s a good bet … we won’t forget …”

Anka finished to a loud round of applause. The six others will up the total of Hall of Fame players to 271.

“That just drove a stake through our hearts and (the Vikings) knew that, they relished it”, said John O” Neill, the 64-year-old Packers fan from Middleton, Wisc., better known as St. Vince.

That could sum up Favre’s career.

“… I didn’t know what reading a defense was until my first meeting in Green Bay in the West Coast offense because if you go back to Atlanta it was run-and-shoot and there’s no reading involved”.

“Who came up with that display?” another Packers fan said.

Favre opted for the stage and gold jacket, which Deanna put on his shoulders. To be specific, Favre threw 33 touchdown passes with only seven interceptions to show for it.

None of that sunk in, but it’s not supposed to. Favre said he always had a connection with the fans. Not at Favre, not at the Vikings, but at the Football Gods. It’s why he was a must watch, no matter what color jersey you were wearing, or even what colors Favre was wearing. “I wouldn’t trade my 16 years in Green Bay for anything”.

Favre admitted his speech won’t follow the script, and we shouldn’t expect anything less.

The situation grew so dire that the sheer shock of head coach Lindy Infante’s 10-6 campaign in 1989 convinced fans to vote him the greatest coach in franchise history ahead of Lombardi and Curly Lambeau.

Ira Miller is an award-winning sportswriter who has covered the National Football League for more than four decades and is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee. He was there to see the Raiders smoking in 1993. From there, Favre was asked what he’ll do when he gets back home.

Somehow, there’s nothing wrong with that picture.
