FBI Director: Petraeus Leaks Were Much Worse Than Clinton Email Mess

Chaffetz: “Did you review the documents where Congressman Jim Jordan asked her specifically, and she said, “There was nothing marked classified on my emails, either sent or received”?”

Comey said his FBI team had conducted its investigation of Clinton “in an apolitical and professional way” and he had no reason to believe she had lied to the FBI.

Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) led the Republican by asking Comey directly whether Clinton had lied in various statements about her email use.

In a big relief to Hillary Clinton, Attorney General Loretta Lynch has said the Democratic presidential candidate would not face any charges over allegations that she violated rules by using a private email server while she was US Secretary of State.

House Republicans fuming over Hillary Clinton’s escape from criminal charges are expected to grill FBI Director James B. Comey today about why he used the words “extremely careless” instead of “gross negligence” – a term that would warrant criminal charges – and whether the matter should have gone to a grand jury.

The Congressional hearing can be watched here at 10 a.m. EDT. They weren’t going to get Comedy to budge on his recommendation that Clinton should not be charged, but his statement earlier this week that she had displayed “extreme carelessness” gave them ground to pursue a smaller, ethics-based concession.

It appears that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in the clear.

“The FBI’s recommendation is surprising and confusing”. That follows with Mrs. Clinton’s blatant lie about not having any classified material on her private server – her unclassified, private, personal server.

In a letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, Ryan requested that the intelligence community refrain from providing any classified information to Clinton. A misdemeanor statute requires the mishandling to be intentional, Comey said.

Despite the no-prosecution decision, Comey had rebuked Clinton and her aides on Tuesday as being “extremely careless” in their handling of classified information and contradicted numerous explanations she’s put forward.

Rather than the one device Clinton said she used to transit information, Comey said the former secretary used “multiple” devices. “Not in a case we’re working”. “I don’t think there’s been a referral from Congress”, Comey replied. “I know the Department of Justice, I know no reasonable prosecutor would bring this case”.

In almost five hours of testimony, Comey sought to explain the Justice Department’s decision ending an investigation that has dogged Clinton’s presidential campaign and raised fresh questions among voters about her trustworthiness.

“Thanks, Director Comey, you may have just become the one person who will end the corrupt reign of the Clinton Family, and terminate any chance for an honorable legacy for Barack Obama”, West concluded.
