FBI dive team searching San Bernardino lake as part of shooting investigation

An FBI raid took place at his Riverside home on Saturday morning, as the weapons probe developed. A senior official with knowledge of the investigation said the FBI received information that the San Bernardino shooters Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik spent time at the lake.

“It’s unbelievable, because where we live, it’s a quiet neighborhood”.

The precise nature or target of the plot was unclear, Risch said. He has emerged as a person of interest in the San Bernardino case because he is the one who purchased weapons used in last week’s attack. “My world is upside-down”, she said.

Now that Farook’s friend and former neighbor Enrique Marquez has the attention of investigators, his own relationships are being scrutinized.

But the more that’s revealed about Marquez, the more puzzling it is for those who knew him.

Farook and Malik tried to destroy their electronic tracks, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been able to recover some of those communications, two law enforcement officials told CNN.

Chacon says she hasn’t seen her son in the week since Farook and his wife killed 14 people. After that, all mention of Romero reportedly disappeared from her social media pages, yet she still kept her name as Mariya Romero on Russian social media sites.

The father works as an engineer, as do his two sons, according to a Pakistani counterterrorism official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the press. The officials did not explain how they knew Malik made the post. “But not here, please”, he said.

Marquez, who has worked at a number of low-paying jobs while living with his mother and step-father in his suburban childhood home in Riverside, Calif. converted to Islam around 2008, as Farook, his long-time friend and for a while his neighbor, was becoming more devoted to the faith.

She said he attacked her in front of their children, dropped a TV on her and pushed her toward a vehicle, according to divorce records. Eyewitness News has learned the search is related to the attack.

But they have also returned, again and again, to a much closer source of clues: The house next door to the boyhood home of killer Syed Rizwan Farook.

“I’m in shock. I don’t know how that could even happen”, said Ramirez, 23.

Authorities say that the 24-year-old Marquez spent hours tinkering on old cars with Syed Rizwan Farook, a friendship that had extended for several years.

“He was pulling out things from the house to give to people and putting it on the curb; he said, ‘Hi, we’re moving…,’ which, for him, was a lot because he normally doesn’t initiate conversations”, Aguirre said.

A man believed to be Farook visited the Magnum Shooting Range in Riverside, California, alone on the Sunday and Monday prior to the attacks in San Bernardino according to a source familiar with the matter.

“For days and days”, she recounted.

“That’s the biggest focus I think of how it would change the game, that they could actually arrange a marriage of two like-minded individuals, use the fiancée visa system to get in the country”, Graham said.

“He’s never done anything mean”, she told the LA Times. “I’m not prepared to discuss Mr. Marquez at this point”, Bowdich said.

“If you weren’t in touch with other people why would you go ahead and do that?”, he said.
