FBI Ends Search of Lake Not Far From San Bernardino Attack Scene
Levin said the very fact the hard drive was removed indicates it likely has sensitive information the shooters did not want law enforcement to discover. “We took it as a joke”.

On Friday, a suspicious fire at a California mosque about 75 miles from San Bernardino stoked fears among local Muslims. Marquez married a Russian woman named Mariya, whose sister is married to Farook’s older brother, in November 2014.
“He fit my purposes”, Morgan said.
“And more importantly, what we’ve got know is who they might have had conversations with relative to their planning, access to the weapons”, he said. It was unusual behavior for Mr. Marquez, who was perpetually short on money; sometimes, he could not afford gas for his auto, or he asked people to buy him drinks. They cautioned that such searches, particularly one in a bustling public park, tend to dredge up debris from many sources, and that investigators still have to determine the value of what was found. Viviana Ramirez, 23, a friend, said he did not seem happy with the arrangement. “She knew what was right and what was wrong”, Fehda Malik said.
Frankly, it sounds as though Marquez might be the patsiest patsy ever, at least from these descriptions of what Marquez is admitting.
Marquez has emerged as a person of interest in the San Bernardino shootings because he bought rifles used in the attack. Can anyone possibly be this stupid, and therefore unwitting of what’s going on?
Federal Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said divers concluded their three-day search of a small lake in San Bernardino on Saturday.
Divers recovered at least two items for follow-up analysis during their underwater search of a lake for evidence possibly put there in an effort to dispose of it by the terrorist killers who carried out the mass murder in San Bernardino. Divers have been looking for hard drives or other electronic evidence in the lake since Thursday, and earlier Saturday authorities said no importance evidence had been found. The items were kept immersed and packed for followup investigation. Authorities believe the marriage was faked in an attempt to help the woman stay in the U.S. Marquez told FBI investigators that he and Farook plotted a terror attack in 2012, but shelved the plans after four people were arrested and charged in a plot to commit jihad against U.S. military bases overseas, according to ABC News.
USA officials have said their investigation has yet to turn up evidence that foreign militants directed Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, or Tashfeen Malik, 29, when the married couple stormed a holiday gathering of Farook’s co-workers at a regional center in San Bernardino on December 2 and opened fire with assault rifles.
We’ll see soon enough whether this tip pans out.

On Sunday, the police in the city of Hawthorne, 210km west of Coachella Valley in Los Angeles County, were investigating separate acts of vandalism at mosques, apparently overnight, that the authorities have classified as hate crimes.
