FBI head testifies to Congress over Clinton investigation
In a surprising turn of events, Congressman Jason Chaffetz announced that he would be sending a referral to the FBI to investigate whether Hillary Clinton lied under oath during her testimony before the Select Committee on Benghazi in October 2015.

“We did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues meant to violate laws governing the handling of classified information”, Comey said, according to The New York Times.
“If your name isn’t Clinton, or you’re not part of the powerful elite, then Lady Justice will act differently”, Mr Chaffetz said, adding that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had set a “dangerous precedent” in letting her off the hook.
Comey also said in his statement Tuesday that Clinton and her senior aides were “extremely careless” with their handling of classified material.
U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Hoover, grilled FBI Director James Comey on the possibility that foreign hackers breached Hillary Clinton’s private email server, telling a congressional committee that “there’s more to this story than we know”.
The FBI found “great carelessness” in Clinton’s handling of sensitive information, Comey said Thursday, reiterating his statement from earlier in the week.
Gowdy: “Secretary Clinton said she used just one device”.
“I believe and have said many times that I take classified material seriously”, Clinton said in an interview with NBC.
Many Republican representatives who questioned Comey expressed their discontent with the FBI’s decision not to recommend charges against Clinton.
“I intended it as a commonsense term”, said Comey.
Comey presided over a year-long investigation and said Tuesday that the matter should be closed with no criminal charges.
Questions about the propriety of Clinton’s use of unauthorized email servers in her Chappaqua, New York, home during her time as secretary of state from January 2009 until February 2013 have raised questions about her judgment from all sides of the political spectrum. The oversight committee will also hold another hearing to examine the “lax security culture” at the State Department under Clinton. Immediately, Republicans and conservatives howled, with GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump claiming this was all part of some nefarious cover-up. Among other things, Comey noted that Clinton used multiple devices to access the email account and that some of the messages were indeed marked classified when they were sent or received. She kept these private e-mails for nearly two years and only turned them over to Congress because we found out she had a private e-mail account. “I know that’s been a source of some confusion for folks”, Comey testified.
