FBI Offers Reward For Return Of Stolen Paintings

Four of the six have been recovered.

The FBI began investigating in June 2013 after Portland police asked for help in the case of six N.C. Wyeth paintings stolen from a Portland businessman.

The paintings were brought to Southern California, as they were too hot to fence back east. The stolen paintings were pawned at a shop in Beverly Hills.

The reward of up to $ 20,000 is being provided to anybody who can present info main to the restoration of the 2 paintings.

Back in December, four other paintings that were stolen in the same heist were recovered by authorities. No one has been charged with stealing the paintings.

Roberts then obtained a $100,000 loan from Dina, and urged the pawn shop owner to drop the asking price for the paintings so that they would be sold more quickly, according to a pre-sentencing memorandum prepared by Bowman.

Wyeth, recognized as one of America’s greatest illustrators, lived in Chadds Ford, Delaware County. He painted almost 4,000 illustrations for magazines and books, including popular children’s books like “Treasure Island” and “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”.

However, it is still unknown who was initially responsible for stealing the paintings from the home.

The four recovered paintings, worth more than $1 million, are: “At a Touch From Michael’s Knife”, “The Unwrit Dogma”, “The Duel”, and “John Brimblecombe”.

The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and information is being sought from those with knowledge about the whereabouts of the remaining two paintings, which are believed to be somewhere in New England.
