Four law enforcement officials were shot Saturday night while trying to arrest a fugitive at a motel in Kansas. A fourth federal agent also suffered the same injuries, but it was not immediately clear to which agency the officer is assigned.

“Once the fire is extinguished, authorities will know how to proceed with the investigation”, Stuart said.
Police scanner traffic indicated a fire is in the Country Club Motel, where the shooting is occurring.
Topeka Fire Marshal Michael Martin told WIBW that the motel was destroyed but would not comment on whether the blaze was intentionally set or whether authorities found any bodies inside. The officers were taken to a local hospital, and are expected to recover.
