According to the MCPD, the suspected robber is known as the “AK-47 Bandit”, believed to be responsible for six other bank robberies in four different states.
The device was evaluated by the Iowa Fire Marshal’s Office. Police say they were notified of the crime several minutes after the robber left the credit union. No one was hurt.
In a release The Federal Bureau of Investigation says they believe the AK-47 Bandit struck again; this time in Mason City, Iowa. There was also an attempted robbery on March 9, 2012, in Sacramento, California, at the Tri-Cities Bank. A Chino police officer was shot and wounded when he confronted the bandit as he exited the California Bank and Trust. “We’re very fearful if he’s not caught that another officer that stumbles upon him may not be as fortunate”. According to authorities, he left the scene in a black or dark colored Toyota Camry LE with no front license plate made between 2007 and 2009.
He is described as a 5-foot-9-inch to 6-foot-tall white man in his 20s to 40s with a medium build. He may have blue eyes.
