Sources familiar with the allegations, but not authorized to speak publicly, say the child welfare investigation centers on Pitt’s treatment of his son Maddox, 15, during an argument during the September 14 flight.

It said it was evaluating whether to launch an investigation.

According to the DCFS source, Pitt is not allowed to have contact with the child, which is usual in such cases, while the investigation is ongoing. TMZ maintains the incident is what finally compelled Jolie to end the relationship, though no officials have publicly confirmed that claim.

L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services officials are also reported to be investigating the alleged incident.

But now a source close to the actor has told People magazine that there had been a row between the famous couple on the private jet, with the family on board.

The alleged abuse is what prompted wife, Angelina Jolie Pitt, to file for divorce on September 15 after two years of marriage and more then a decade together. She is reportedly requesting that a judge grant Pitt visitation rights as opposed to joint custody.

The announced split of Hollywood’s No. 1 power couple, actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, caused seismic waves in the celebrity world. “We’re prohibited by law from disclosing case specific information or even identifying any involvement with any client”, Public Information Officer Neil Zanville told Us Weekly.

Jolie, 41, filed for divorce from Pitt, 52, Monday.

Their children are: 15-year-old Maddox, 12-year-old Pax, 11-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old Shiloh, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Officer Jenny Houser adds, “The child abuse unit with LAPD has no open investigation on Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie”.

The Associated Press reported Jolie’s attorney, Robert Offer, said Jolie filed for dissolution of the marriage, with a decision made “for the health of the family”.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids”, Pitt said earlier this week.
