Federal Bureau of Investigation probes Hillary Clinton over private email use

He knew that his meeting with Lynch would cause such outrage it would pressure Lynch to remove herself from the investigation and likely cause a delay in the investigation until after the Democratic convention and the general election, clearing the way for his wife, Hillary Clinton, to get the Democratic nomination and possibly the presidency.

The presumed Democratic nominee met with the FBI for three and a half hours on Saturday, as part of the investigation. She will join Obama for their first joint campaign appearance on Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Clinton will follow it up with an event on Wednesday in Atlantic City, New Jersey, aimed at undercutting Trump’s business practices.

Obama’s focus on Clinton’s strength of character is meant to shore up support among voters who find her untrustworthy, a weakness that presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has sought to exploit.

The voluntary interview, which took place over 3½ hours at Federal Bureau of Investigation headquarters in Washington, largely focused on the Justice Department’s central question: Did the actions of Clinton or her staff rise to the level of criminal mishandling of classified information?

“Hindsight is 20/20”, Clinton told NBC’s “Meet the Press” program, noting that both Bill Clinton and Attorney General Lynch have said they would not do it again.

Obama endorsed Clinton last month with a forceful video in which he stated that no one had been so qualified for the job. A Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday found that voters deemed Trump more honest and trustworthy than Clinton, 45 per cent to 37 per cent.

So pervasive has the image been that her opponents have only to utter buzzwords like “Whitewater” – the name of the Clintons’ failed land deal in which neither was implicated in wrongdoing – to invoke the image of what Trump terms, “Crooked Hillary”.

Tame said although the Attorney General said otherwise, she does have the power to overrule the recommendations of the investigation. Her state directors in Ohio, Colorado, Iowa and Nevada all had experience on Obama’s campaigns.

Bill Clinton knew exactly what he was doing when he boarded that plane. “You’re talking about something so outside the realm of possibility, I doubt there is a campaign decision, because it’s simply not going to happen”. “And I give her credit for saying she’s made some mistakes”, he said on “Fox News Sunday”.

The show’s star, posted a photo of Clinton and her husband hanging out after the performance.
