Federal Bureau of Investigation Report Rules Out Radioactive Angle In Sunanda Pushkar’s Death

Former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar didn’t die because of polonium or any other radioactive substance, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has emailed to the Delhi police.

In March, 2015, Delhi Police has received a report from Directorate of Forensic Science (DFS) in Gandhinagar which was asked to check the contents of Sunanda’s laptops and mobile phones to ascertain whether anything was purposely deleted or destroyed from her gadgets or not.

Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi told the Hindu that “some facts related to the case” would be disclosed soon. Bassi said that the future actions will be decided only after reciving final report from the medical board. He added that the findings would have to be “correlated with the post-mortem report”.

Reacting to the developments, AIIMS forensic head Sudhir Gupta stuck to his opinion that poisoning was the cause of death.

“There are findings that confirm that the death was due to poisoning”.

According to media reports, the U.S. agency says in Sunanda Pushkar’s viscera samples was within permissible levels. Police also question Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor multiple times in relation with the high profile case.

Sunanda, 51, the wife of congress lawmaker Sashi Tharoor was found dead on January 2014 at her room in the Leela Hotel in Delhi.
