Federal Bureau of Investigation to question Hillary Clinton on email scandal

The investigation is not yet completed but, at this point, there has been no evidence discovered of willful law violations on the part of Clinton.

Campaign spokesman Brian Fallon said Wednesday that Clinton will cooperate with reviews of her email setup and remains confident that “nothing inappropriate took place”.

According to a Los Angeles Times report, the Abedin interview was held April 5 in Washington.

Critics of Clinton’s decision to rely on the private server have suggested that it potentially made her communications more vulnerable to being stolen by hackers, including those working for foreign intelligence agencies.

Ms Abedin had co-operated with investigators, who had not found evidence that proved Ms Clinton willfully violated the law, it added. The FBI had no immediate comment.

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton may face interviews in the coming months about her use of a private email server while she served as secretary of state.

U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan also stated that both parties have come to an agreement on testimonies from Clinton’s former top aides.

Those documents could include any e-mails Clinton’s associates deleted as “personal”, if they exist: some may have been recovered by the FBI as part of its separate criminal investigation into how classified information got onto the private server.

The former top diplomat has denied these allegations but the latest court ruling could give her opposition important political tool to attack her at a time when she is heading her way to become the first woman presidential candidate of the Democratic party. “I believe they are going to have to make a summary finding as to her violations of the National Records Act, her taking of the documents and, of course, the classified portion”. The investigation is not over, however, and there is no deadline for its completion.

Federal prosecutors in the same office that successfully prosecuted 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui – and who would handle any Edward Snowden case, should he ever return to the country – are assisting in the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, according to US officials familiar with the matter.

Abedin is a former deputy chief of staff for Clinton.
