Federal Bureau of Investigation to soon release documents related to Clinton email probe

Obama administration lawyers told a USA district court judge Tuesday that some of those Benghazi-related email were not previously turned over to the State Department for review.

Donald Trump and other critics of the family have already latched onto State Department emails that show the former secretary of state met privately with donors to the foundation during her time in office.

The Associated Press reported last week that foundation donors accounted for more than half of the meetings Clinton held with people outside of government.

FBI Director James Comey did not recommend charges as a result of the investigation into Hillary’s email practices, but concluded that the former secretary of state and her closest aides were “extremely careless” in their handling of classified information.

Clinton was ordered earlier this month by U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan to answer the group’s questions under oath.

“The Clinton Foundation largely operated in order to take money from the largest corporations in the world and [from] corrupt government”, the head of the watchdog group added. He’s promised to step down from the board if Hillary Clinton wins the White House in November, a commitment made amid swirling questions — pushed along by Donald Trump — about her ability to separate herself from the foundation’s wealthy contributors at home and overseas. In a separate case filed by Judicial Watch, another federal judge asked the State Department Monday to provide a plan for releasing them by September 23.

The Clinton campaign did not immediately respond for comment.

“As we have said, the department agreed to search the materials we received from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in response to several pending (Freedom of Information Act) requests and, to the extent responsive records are identified, produce them”, State Department spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau said Thursday.

The release is in response to numerous Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests including from CNN.

Though he described Clinton’s actions as “extremely careless”, FBI Director James Comey said his agents found no evidence that anyone meant to break the law and said “no reasonable prosecutor” would have brought a criminal case.

“Hillary Clinton’s senior staff at the State Department routinely worked with the Clinton Foundation to reward big donors with special access and favors for four years”, Citizens United president David Bossie said in a statement.
