Federal Bureau of Investigation wanted DOJ to probe Clinton Foundation but DOJ refused
A senior Clinton campaign official tells NPR that the email exchanges between Band and Abedin did take place, but did so as top personal aides to the Clintons, not as officials carrying out business related to the foundation.

Abedin replied, “We have all had him on our radar”.
Among the 44 previously-unreleased emails obtained by Judicial Watch was an exchange that shines light on the tangled relationship the Clinton Foundation had with the State Department during Clinton’s tenure there.
Editor’s note: Kayleigh McEnany is a CNN commentator and supporter of Donald Trump.
Democrats seized on the remarks as an incitement to violence, while the Trump campaign insisted the candidate was merely referring to the power of Second Amendment advocates to rally at the polls.
Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state during President Barack Obama’s first term is among the reasons surveys show voters find her untrustworthy.
“We need Gilbert Chagoury to speak to the substance person re Lebanon”, Band wrote.
“Congress has a right to ask for any information that it wants to from the executive branch of government to keep track of them, and the government should be turning that information over, and when you have a break down in that system, we have a break down in our democracy”, Amey said. Band also asks that Abedin call Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman to connect him to Chagoury. “I’ll talk to jeff”. He has never met or had any contact with Ambassador Feltman.
He later stated in public testimony that he wouldn’t “comment on the existence or nonexistence of other investigations”.
After serving on Bill Clinton’s White House staff, Band became his chief adviser after he left office, helping him create the Clinton Global Initiative, a part of the Clinton Foundation and its global charitable efforts, which has gathered billions of dollars in donations and commitments from a sprawling collection of affluent donors and foundations. Because Clinton promised in 2009 that she would step down from her roles at the Foundation to alleviate any conflict of interest, Breitbart reported.
The Clinton campaign said yesterday that Chagoury only wanted to offer insights on the then-upcoming Lebanese election and was not looking for any specific action from the State Department. Citizens United now has 40 lawsuits relating to Clinton’s and her aides’ records.
“We will appropriately and with due diligence process any additional material we receive from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to identify work-related agency records and make them available to the public consistent with our legal obligations”, said Elizabeth Trudeau, director of press relations at the State Department. If they are from her private account, this means Clinton was either mistaken or dishonest.
The scrutiny of Clinton’s private email server while at the State Department has fueled public distrust of her and plagued her presidential bid.
Mills also said she recalls speaking to the same staffer – Bryan Pagliano – about the company overseeing the server set up. The foundation has the Clinton name on it.
As a result, DOJ officials pushed back against opening a case during the meeting earlier this year.
Prosecutors found there was not enough evidence to proceed despite what FBI Director James Comey characterised as “extremely careless” handling of classified information. “News of its rejection comes immediately after leaked emails exposed a concerning link between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department!”
In a case where there’s a possible conflict of interest that’s not necessarily criminal, the inspector general can look into it and take an administrative remedy if necessary. Clinton served as secretary of state from January 2009 to February 2013.

“It’s clear that he continues to falsely attack Hillary Clinton as a method of distracting from his campaign’s latest meltdown”.
