Amperex Technology Ltd, a battery supplier to Samsung Electronics, said on Monday that the Galaxy Note 7 smart-phones that are reported to have caught fire in China were “not directly” related to the batteries produced by ATL.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has directed passengers not to turn on or charge their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices on board aircraft following recent incidents and concerns raised by its manufacturers.
Samsung issued a global recall of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones on September 2, after it discovered a manufacturing defect in the battery lead to several devices catching fire or exploding across the globe.
Mamudu, who is Manager, Samsung Customer Service Centre in Abuja told newsmen on Tuesday that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was slated to be introduced in the country in October.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – Samsung says new Galaxy Note 7 smartphones will be available in US stores starting Wednesday to replace about 1 million devices that are being recalled because their batteries can catch fire. This follows the postponement of sales of the device globally due to isolated battery cell problems.
Consumers can either replace the phone or get a refund, and Samsung also released a stopgap software update that limits the phone’s battery to 60 percent capacity, in a bid to prevent them from overheating.
We knew this update was coming, we just didn’t know that the update would place a warning on older phones, reminding their owners that they had a ticking time bomb in their jean pocket. “New devices will be in stores no later than tomorrow and we will continue to take the necessary actions to ensure users are powering down and immediately exchanging recalled devices”.

On the first day of the replacement program, users of the Note 7 appeared to be in no hurry to swap their handsets with new ones.
