Federation Internationale de Football Association officials to appeal ban
Blatter and Platini are facing charges including corruption, conflict of interest and non-cooperation.

His last words were “I’ll be back, thank you”.
The timing of the payment has raised eyebrows however – it took place nine years after Platini had stopped working for Federation Internationale de Football Association, and was made while Blatter was seeking support for a fourth term as president and facing a major challenge from Qatar’s Mohamed Bin Hammam.
The Ethics Committee said it had not found evidence that the payment, made at a time when Blatter was seeking re-election, constituted a bribe, which meant the men were spared potential lifetime bans.
Blatter has secured a top Swiss lawyer and plans to appeal the ban, which takes effect immediately.
Already serving a provisional ban, the elected FIFA president and his long-time likely successor were kicked out of the sport just two months before 209 member federations elect a new leader. The payment is also the subject of a criminal investigation in Switzerland.
Blatter, 79, used FIFA’s former headquarters in Zurich for his news conference – he hired it as a private citizen, but it still houses FIFA’s marketing department – and said he would appeal to FIFA’s appeals committee, then the Court of Arbitration for Sport and then the Swiss federal court against the sanction. “The procedure committed by FIFA’s Ethics Committee against me is a real masquerade”, read a statement issued by Platini.
“Solid reasons are required to ban from football for eight years”. I am sorry that I am still somewhere a punching ball. I am sorry for football. My family was mocked.
“I can only express my regret over the current developments”.
Platini, a former France global who was one of the finest players of his generation and had led the European soccer body UEFA since 2002, had been the favourite to win that election until he was suspended. “Once again, UEFA supports Michel Platini’s right to a due process and the opportunity to clear his name”.
Platini does feel the same as he too issued a statement saying he will be appealing the ban. He also claimed the action against him was “a mockery”.
“I am not ashamed”.

He said FIFA’s Ethics Committee had no right to relieve him of his duties. It was orchestrated to tarnish my reputation.
