Federer, Murray 1 round away from Wimbledon final matchup

He can now expect a huge leap in quality when taking on Murray, who has come out on top in the pair’s last four meetings.
Federer has lost the previous two Wimbledon finals to Djokovic, but the Serbian world number one’s shock exit to American Sam Querrey has opened up the men’s draw.
Seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer has said that he is amazed to be still in the fray for the title after his quarter-final win against Marin Cilic on Wednesday.
The No. 3-seeded Federer is 16-6 this season, including 5-1 in Grand Slam action.
QUOTE OF THE DAY “I remember just being in trouble the whole time”. The match lasted just over an hour and a half.
The 34-year-old would save another match point in the tiebreak that ensued before finally converting his fifth set point to take the match into what shaped as a dramatic fifth and final set. Step forward, Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber. No. 4 Angelique Kerber.
But Roger Federer is proving all the critics wrong at Wimbledon this year.
“I sleep well, I eat healthy, take a stretch, a massage, that’s it”.
Federer described his win as “epic”.

No doubt, the straight-talking, positive coach McEnroe will also have Raonic believing like never before that he can progress into a first Grand Slam final.
“The crowd were unbelievable today”, Murray said.
“Then when we played the tournament at Queen’s, when I was playing, it shifted to putting those things in effect, but also about attitude on the court throughout matches”.
The last time Cilic and Federer played was in the 2014 U.S. Open semifinals. Federer is still recovering (both physically and emotionally) from winning a tough five set match over Marin Cilic in the quarterfinals. He would then successfully serve out the third set and thus keep the match alive. After defeating Evans, he reached the second week without dropping a set at this year’s championships. “I know what I need to do on court better”, he said.
“I remember just being in trouble the whole time”, Federer said.
That best described the dramatic fourth-set tiebreaker. He needs to go into this match with the mentality that Raonic will not allow him to break serve. Cilic hit an ace to save the second.
This is the 25-year-old Canadian’s second Wimbledon semifinal. But he dumped the return into the net. For Federer fans and tennis fans alike, his physical condition is going to be the most interesting and important aspect of this match. He was moving well in the fifth set of his quarterfinal against the Croatian, but there could be a delayed reaction. As Murray observed in his BBC column: “Tomas hits a big ball”.
“When you’re down two sets to love, three-all, love-40, it’s a moment when it’s not in your control anymore”, Federer said. Berdych defeated Lucas Pouille in straight sets. Still gives me the chance to win the tournament.
Murray’s semifinal opponent, Tomas Berdych, has also been left unfulfilled at the Grand Slam level.
