The American state of Minnesota passed the country’s first charter school law in the early 1990s. As the state embraced and then expanded charters over the past two decades, its rank has fallen on national reading and math tests. That’s not in itself unusual, as Jewish nonprofits generally observe the “if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all” rule when it comes to presidential personnel choices. Schools there can do poorly and still continue to enroll students. Charter-school advocates have long insisted that their reform would force underperforming public schools to improve their product or close up shop.
DeVos’ appointment appears to place the site, which is named for the 74 million school-age children in America, in much the same position as Breitbart News, the conservative-news digital operation.

As school choice proponents cheered President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Republican donor and philanthropist Betsy DeVos as education secretary Wednesday, it wasn’t clear where she stands on higher education and the rising student loan burden. “There is so much to be celebrated in the civil rights gains made during the Obama Administration”. The groups claim that Harvard and other Ivy League schools use racial quotas that discriminate against Asians in the admissions process. Previously, Reckhow was a high school teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools.
Critics say that teaching intelligent design in schools amounts to an attack on the separation of church and state. Eighty percent of charter schools in MI are run by for-profit entities, and majority perform below the state average. Some charter schools do a better job than others do.
It’s interesting to know that DeVos has never taken any role in public education but has been active in working for choices of school.
