Feds recall more sunflower seed products due to Listeria scare
The recall is a result of the Toronto-based sunflower seed supplier, SunOpta, expanding its own recall earlier this week because of potential listeria contamination, the TreeHouse news release said. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. No other MaraNatha® products are impacted by this recall.

Sun-opta said no illnesses have been linked to the potentially contaminated sun-flower kernels.
Clif Bar & Company says it is consulting with the Food and Drug Administration on the recall and that all retailers who received the products are being contacted.
As well, CLIF Bar & Company is recalling certain lots of CLIF Bar Sierra Trail Mix Energy Bars with Best Before dates of 2016JN06 up to and including 2017FE23.
As of June 2, Clif Bar said it had not received any reports of illness, but made a decision to initiate the recall on that date “in an abundance of caution”.
Consumers do not need to return the product to the store where it was purchased. Instead, consumers are urged to dispose of the recalled product and its container.
Food contaminated with listeria can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches and neck stiffness.
In a separate, but also massive recall ordeal, General Mills recalled 10 million pounds of baking flour following concerns of E. coli contamination, Inquisitr reported this week.
No other Hershey products or products sold under the Sofit brand are affected.
