Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), Rogue One captures cosmic stakes like no other Star Wars movie has – the audience feels the planet-killing power of the Death Star, as well as the desperation of insurgent Rebels battling the fascist Empire. It’s to the credit of director Gareth Edwards and screenwriters Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy, then, that Rogue One is still engaging and at times even suspenseful despite this predetermined outcome.

Also in the interview, Kennedy was asked for her thoughts on the status of strong female characters in Star Wars movies following Daisy Ridley’s performance as Rey in The Force Awakens and Felicity Jones as Jyn in Rogue One.
The Tantive IV is pursued by the ISD Devastator above Tatooine in Star Wars: Episode IV. Mon Mothma, the Rebellion’s ersatz leader, recruits a motley band of heroes to steal the plans to a new superweapon, the Death Star.
