Felon Charged For Shooting Himself In The Leg
Most of you might have heard the saying “shooting oneself in the foot”. Well, a felon recently did just that both literally and figuratively. Turns out, the felon was illegally in possession of the weapon and accidentally shot himself in the foot. The 28-year old man Mark Cruz was carrying the .22 caliber gun in his pocket, when it slipped out and went off the moment it hit the ground. As you might have guessed, the stray bullet lodged itself in the felon’s leg.

While hospitalized, the cops visited Mark to question him about the incident, but he refused to cooperate with the investigators, which then led to them charging him. Basically, Mark refused to divulge to the investigators, where he had hidden the gun. He claimed that he threw it in a nearby river. He as a result was charged with possessing an illegal firearm and destroying evidence.
If you thought Cruz’s streak of bad luck ended with him being arrested, you are absolutely wrong. After shooting himself in the foot and being arrested the next bit of misfortune came in the form of the $11,500 that the man had to pay as bail. Just in case you are wondering, why Cruz is being addressed as a felon, let us tell you. Last year the man was released from prison, to where he had been sent for aggravated assault and possession of cocaine. One can only hope that this incident would act as a huge deterrent for Cruz and in the future he won’t try to shoot himself or anyone else.
Many might argue that Cruz being shot in the foot by his own gun was lesson enough and that the authorities didn’t need to arrest him. But, we have to remember here that this stray bullet could have actually some innocent soul on the street, which is why this example needed to be set. Also, there is no guarantee that Cruz is telling the truth. He might have hidden the firearm somewhere and probably would have gotten his hands on it, if he wasn’t deterred. Now that he is out on bail, he should do the smart thing and get rid of the gun once and for all, if he hasn’t done it already.

Here’s hoping all criminals learn the kind of lesson Cruz has.
