However, he isn’t happy with life outside the starting XI in Istanbul, as has been heavily linked with a move back to his homeland, and boyhood club Feyenoord.

And Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim is bracing for the 32-year-old’s departure by trying to sign Fluminense striker Fred, according to Turkish outlet Takvim.

“In the last few days there have been many transfer rumours about Robin van Persie in the media”, a statement on the club’s official website reads.

“We do not plan to sell van Persie and he does not want to leave. He is a valuable player in our squad and he is going to play for us”.

Van Persie, contracted until the summer of 2018, has scored just four Super Lig goals and one in the Europa League qualifiers.

Van Persie has managed to score five goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for Fenerbahce and has aroused the interest of Barcelona.
