Fiat Chrysler facing lawsuit over Star Trek actor’s death
According to the Associated Press, Victor and Irina Yelchin are planning to file a wrongful death lawsuit Tuesday against Fiat Chrysler, which made the Jeep that killed their son.

“The safety recall was way too little and way too late, we hope this lawsuit will teach them a lesson”, said the family’s lawyer Gary Dordick, in front of a portrait of Anton.
“Anton was our only son and remarkable human being”, Victor Yelchin told reporters.
The parents of Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin are suing the makers of the vehicle which crushed him to death. Because of Yelchin’s tragic death, Fiat Chrysler has accelerated recalls of that Jeep model, but that doesn’t change that the actor was taken much too soon. “It can roll away.’ They mailed that letter, 7 days after he died”.
His parents say they appreciate the outpouring of support from Anton’s fans.
And to add insult to injury, Mr. and Mrs. Yelchin’s attorney has also stated that they “received no condolences from the auto manufacturer in the wake of their son’s death”.
Court documents say four plaintiffs claim that there was an “unreasonable delay” in fixing what they call a “defective” gear shifter in Fiat Chrysler vehicles.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the fault was related to the design of the cars’ automatic transmission gear shifts.
We can’t imagine what the Yelchin family is going through right now.
FCA’s April recall covers one million vehicles, including 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees, and the company said last month it was investigating the actor’s death.
“He was very special and now his death will save another life”, Anton’s mother, Irina Yelchin tearfully said at the press conference.
The automaker said in a statement it had not been served with a lawsuit and declined comment on the legal complaint.
Anton Yelchin’s parents plan to sue over their son’s death, their attorney announced Monday. FCA US urges customers to follow the instructions in their owners’ manuals and the information cards sent with their recall notices.
“Every morning, we’re getting text messages or emails from his friends and all around the world saying, “we’re missing him”.

AP is also reporting that the 27-year-old actor died without a will, leaving his parents to serve as administrators of his almost $1.4 million estate.
