Yelchin was killed by his own vehicle as it rolled down his driveway, according to police. “The safety recall was way too little and way too late”, Dordick added.

It has nonetheless been speeding up a recall campaign that the covers certain model-year 2012-2014 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 sedans, and model-year 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs in the U.S.

Both the company and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have urged drivers of vehicles subject to the recall to set their parking brakes before getting out of their SUV. We’ll see how this lawsuit plays out in the months ahead, but ideally the company taking increased action will make sure no one else is hurt or killed by these kinds of cars.
