FIFA Hand Blatter, Platini 8-year Bans
Blatter, appearing wearing a plaster on his face following the removal of a mole, vowed to fight the sanctions and claimed: “I’ll be back”. Blatter says it was for consultancy work done a decade ago and the two men had agreed the payment in an “oral” contract. “The procedure initiated against me by FIFA’s ethics committee is a pure masquerade”.

Blatter said he will fight against the decision by the ethics committee to ban him from all football activity because he doesn’t understand why he’s being banned.
“I am really sorry”.
“If we had awarded the World Cup in 2022 to the U.S., we would not be here”, he said at a news conference Monday.
“At the next congress, the 27 February, before the election of the new president, even suspended I am president and the president must be first relieved of his duties”.
“Parallel to going to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, I am determined to apply, at the right time, to civil courts to obtain damages for all the prejudice I have suffered”, Platini said. Blatter wants desperately to have his name cleared so that he can host February’s special Fifa Congress, where his successor will be chosen (and, perhaps, where he can also lobby to be named honorary president).
Blatter has also been fined 50,000 Swiss francs (£33,700) and Platini 80,000 Swiss francs (£54,000) after being found guilty of ethics code breaches including conflict of interest.
Blatter has however stated that he will be appealing the ban as he feels aggrieved by the actions of the world governing body. Blatter and Platini say the payment was completely unconnected with the presidential elections.
While Platini boycotted the hearing from the get-go, Blatter came and spat all kinds of nonsense in a press conference following the announcement, including comparing himself to Nelson Mandela and a “punching ball”.
Federation Internationale de Football Association ethics judge Hans-Joachim Eckert imposed the bans following a “disloyal payment” from Federation Internationale de Football Association to Platini, which was given the green light by Blatter. The payment was deemed made with no legal basis and broke the rules regarding gifts and benefits. Facing pressure from governments and the International Olympic Committee for major reforms, there are now five candidates to take over FIFA: Asian football head Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa of Bahrain, South African politician and tycoon Tokyo Sexwale, former FIFA vice president Prince Ali bin al Hussein of Jordan, UEFA general-secretary Gianni Infantino and Jerome Champagne, a former FIFA assistant general secretary from France. I repeat: Never take money you have not earned, pay your debts.
