‘Fifty Shades Darker’ beats ‘Star Wars’ one-day trailer record

The “Fifty Shades Darker” trailer dethroned “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, which generated 112 million views, for the title.

The official trailer for the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, has beaten Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the most watched trailer within the first 24 hours. As stated first by The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer earned a huge 2.5 million viewers within its first hour, exclusively from the Fifty Shades official Facebook page.

Fifty Shades Darker will be released worldwide on Valentine’s Day 2017 (February 14).

Fifty Shades Darker will feature Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan returning as the leads, although there’s a bit of an overhaul behind the scenes.

Tuesday’s trailer release was preceded by a 20-second teaser on Monday that primed fans for the full clip. “Fifty Shades Darth-er’, anyone?”

Her visits led to more gossip that the wife is already watching closely the actions of her husband and co-star due to jealousy. And seeing the trailer and Kim as Mrs. Robinson for the first time did not disappoint.

The first version, Fifty Shades of Grey earned a record number of collections keeping reviews and criticism aside. These numbers made it one of the most profitable films in the year 2015. This goes to show the power of Fifty’s fans.
