Fifty Shades sequel finds it’s Leila!

Heathcote will play Leila, a former lover of Christian, who bears the scars to prove it. But even with that movie still being rolled out as we speak, the Australian actress is already finding herself entangled in a new popular novel adaptation with Fifty Shades Darker, the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel.

The couple’s relationship occurred two and half years before he met Anastasia (Dakota Johnson). Four months prior to Christian meeting Ana, she left her husband for a lover, Geoff, who was killed in a auto crash.

Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview that “Fifty Shades Darker” will be “more of a thriller”. On-set conflict between author E L James and the first film’s director Sam Taylor-Johnson, however, led to Taylor-Johnson and screenwriter Kelly Marcel opting not return for the sequel. The film’s official Twitter account acknowledged the news with a photo of Heathcote from the premiere of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (out now), in which she plays Jane Bennet.

Heathcote’s other credits include Dark Shadows, In Time and Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming The Neon Demon with Elle Fanning. Based on what we’re reading on the Fifty Shades Wikia, she seems pretty insane.

Bella Heathcote has landed a role in Fifty Shades Darker, the second instalment of E.L. James trilogy.
