Files revival ‘like the old days’, says creator Chris Carter

Mulder monotones and wisecracks, saying things that invoke enough of the paranormal (what did you just say caused global warming?) to force Scully to take on the role of the skeptic again.

Here is the a short recap of the miniseries: Episode 1 titled My Struggle was mostly about bringing Mulder and Scully back to the world of spooky cases, thanks to conspiracy theorist and web-TV show host Tad O’Malley.

Still, legions of X-philes (“The X-files” fans), myself included, are shedding tears of joy to be able to see Mulder and Scully in partnership once again before tears of sadness have to arrive at the end. In many ways, it’s nearly a tribute to the series, while also serving as a sort of template, at least for one kind of The X-Files episode. The reptilian monster is one that administers both a chuckle and a chill simultaneously, which is what I love about the “monster-of-the-week” episodes, in which it can scare and delight all at the same time.

Other characters from the original run of the show will also return for the six-episode series, including The Smoking Man, The Lone Gunmen and Sveta, a victim of alien abduction. Carter says there was so much work to do in such a limited time frame that there wasn’t time for hugs and back patting.

More than a decade after they went their separate ways, former Federal Bureau of Investigation special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully have got on with their lives separately – she working in a medical practice, him getting by alone. “But I think that everyone is waiting to see how we do in the ratings”. He continued: “We don’t want to tie up all the loose ends, it might suggest that we’re done with the show”. “It really did. And it reminded me that we have at the core of “The X-Files” this very powerful relationship”.
