Fill The Boot Campaign set for Friday

Anyone who sees Crawfordsville firefighters out in the middle of the road beginning today should definitely slow down.

Cheyenne firefighters will be out filling the boot for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) this Labor Day weekend.

“For more than six decades, firefighters have fueled MDA’s mission to find treatments and cures for muscle-debilitating diseases, and this year’s Fort Wayne Fill the Boot results are ideal example of their dedication”, said Executive Director, Sonja Cronin.

All of the proceeds benefit the MDA directly.

Contributions also help efforts to fund regional care centers including the MDA Care Center at Essentia in Duluth and send kids to the MDA summer camp at Camp Courage.

The International Association of Firefighters and the Muscular Dystrophy Association are celebrating more than 60 years of fundraising together.

“Fill the Boot is unbelievable”, Bear said. “Hopefully $1 more would be better, but 200 is our goal”, said Michael Berry, MDA coordinator. Passing Drivers drop dollar bills in to the shoes.

This year, from today through Saturday, firefighters will stand at the intersections of South Boulevard and Elm Street, East Main Street and Wabash Avenue and also at the Walmart intersection.

As MDA’s largest national partner, the IAFF fuels MDA’s mission to find research breakthroughs across diseases, care for children and adults from day one and provide families with services and support.
