Film shoots suspended at LAUSD schools

According to NBC4, a local television station, records indicate that “Revenge of the Petites”, a porno movie released in 2012, was filmed at Alexander Hamilton High School.

In response, LAUSD told NBC4 that the filmmakers had misled them and that they wouldn’t have knowingly allowed them to shoot a film like that.

Contacted by Education Week, L.A. Unified’s communications office indicated that the superintendent was not available for comment, referring only to the statement released Thursday, in which Cortines said that existing procedures around filming could be updated after the review.

L.A.’s Unified School District has suspended commercial filming on all school campuses following allegations that a few have damaged property and disturbed classes, reports the L.A. Times.

One of the most outrageous finds, however, appears to be the permission of sex scenes and nudity at Hamilton High School back in October of 2011. The district would never have knowingly approved their presence on a campus for such a film, officials told the station.

It’s not clear what tipped reporters off to a porn shoot that happened four years ago, but the school district said it only found out that the company had shot porn at the school when a parent complained (maybe somebody’s dad was watching a little pay-per-view?).

The district says the production company violated terms of its filming agreement and is banned from using district facilities.

It is important that we ensure teaching and learning are not disrupted, and that all filming activity is appropriate for our schools.

NBC4 also reported that filming activity at University High School led to delayed or relocated classes and cancellation of sports practices.

The money “has enabled our schools to fund programs and much-needed resources to improve the educational experience of their students”, he said. As such, I have made a decision to temporarily suspend all commercial filming at our schools. Venice High School became Rydell High in the movie version of “Grease”, and Grant High was used in the film, “Clueless”.
