Final Fantasy XV’s battle system has been altered

Considering that Square Enix has kept mum about the release date of the game, for a very long time fans of Final Fantasy are happy with the announcement, albeit it still being vague, and are willing to wait a little longer for it to be released. Siliconera also reported that this new system will replace the Break→Rush→Slash system from the Episode Duscae demo to prevent players from accidentally switching their weapons and interrupting their timing.

Now on the most recent list of most-anticipated gaming titles, the team behind “Final Fantasy XV” has been busy, making the rounds at different gaming conventions and shows.

This isn’t the first big change we’ve seen after Episode Duscae.

Originally, the automatic system consisted of different attacks in a combo or outside of a combo that featured a different weapon on each link of the combo chain. It allows players to use their favorite weapon instead of Noctis constantly changing them while you are in the middle of a combat. They have removed this now so players will have to manually change weapons themselves.

Final Fantasy XV is due to come out for the Xbox One and the PS4 sometime in 2016. For a game that is prioritizing the ability to make nonlinear gameplay choices in its travel and quest systems, having a battle system that took something as important as weapon configuration away from its players seemed unintuitive.
