Finance Minister to Attend AIIB Assembly in Beijing

During the two-day meeting in Beijing that starts Saturday, Minister Yoo will give a keynote speech through which he will assess the regional bank’s activities so far and propose operational directions for the future.

Mr. Jaitley and Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das are scheduled to visit China again next month, from July 19 to 24, including for the G20 meeting of Finance Ministers, so it was chose to hold the eighth round of financial dialogue then, the official said.

The Finance Minister will address Business Forum Invest in India on June 24, in which several Chinese businessmen and heads of state-run firms are expected to take part.

A postponement has been necessitated because of India’s Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das’ inability to travel to Beijing for the meeting scheduled for 27 June.

A key meet on bilateral financial ties between India and China scheduled for this week got postponed to July on Thursday, at a time when the two countries have been sparring over India’s membership to the Nuclear Suppliers Group. India is the second largest shareholder after China.

Jaitley will also meet his Chinese counterpart Lou Jiwei on June 27.

Fresh dates for the financial dialogue at the level of Secretaries in July are being worked out. Mr. Jaitley will participate in different sessions of the meeting, including one on Infrastructure and Global Economic Growth and another on Financing Green Infrastructure:The Role of MDBs.
