“Finding Dory” has become the new record holder for the biggest animated film opening in the USA with an estimated gloss of $136.2 million.

Modern Family stars Ty Burrell and Ed O’Neill also supply voices, along with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson.

The opening weekend crowd was evenly matched between men and women and 57 per cent of customers were over 25 years old. “Central Intelligence was great counter-programming against Finding Dory and a strong option for audiences who were not animated film fans”.

LOS ANGELES The forgetful blue fish of “Finding Dory” is box office gold. So far, the Universal total production has earned nearly 2.6 billion Yuan ($377.6 million) in local and global receipts combined.

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming… all the way to the bank. According to Bloomberg Intelligence, “Finding Dory” could also be the biggest of the summer. Setting rest to the worries about the acceptance of an animation movie and that too a sequel with the same deep sea settings, “Finding Dory” has earned $136.2 million in box office.

With DeGeneres’ Dory taking the lead in the new chapter, 62% of the audience consisted of women and girls, according to comScore tracking.

Finding Dory initial release received positive reviews from critics and had grossed over $186 million worldwide.

Dory easily topped the box-office chart, although Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart’s action comedy also pleased in its opening, earning a solid $34.5 million from 3,508 theaters to come in No. 2.

Disney’s executive vice president of distribution, Dave Hollis, commented that “Finding Dory” attracted a more diverse mix of moviegoers than most Pixar films.

Still, that’s nothing compared to Warcraft, which tumbled 73 percent to $6.5 million from 3,406 theaters for a meek domestic 10-day domestic total of $37.7 million. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.
