Finn injury gives Plunkett place in World T20 squad

Finn missed the last test in the series with South Africa with a side strain, but everyone was confident that he would be fit by the time the tournament starts in India.

Steven Finn says he is “gutted” to miss the World Twenty20 after he was ruled out with a calf injury.

Finn took to twitter to voice his disappointment at missing out on the ICC World T20 and wished the England squad the best for the tournament.

Steven Finn has been ruled out of England’s World Twenty20 squad, with his place going to Liam Plunkett. “Good luck to the guys out there!” which just shows how much the Middlesex man was looking forward to getting back into the team.

Finn has had a number of recent injuries, being forced out of the tour of the United Arab Emirates in October 2015 with a stress injury to his left foot.

Plunkett did not play the T20I series against South Africa as well, which England lost 2-0.

Finn had a particularly good game in the second T20 worldwide against South Africa at Johannesburg in that, during his absence, England’s other pace bowlers were thrashed, with Reece Topley going for 16 runs per over and Chris Jordan 18.

In final match of the tour England’s bowlers failed to contain AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla as they each notched 50s to easily chase down the tourist’s score of 171.

Finn is not especially economical in T20 internationals but, as in Tests, he has a fine strike-rate in this format when batsmen take liberties.
