Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Elian Herrera, left, and left fielder Shane Peterson, right, are attended to after colliding while trying to catch a ball hit by Cincinnati Reds’ Skip Schumaker during the eighth inning of a baseball game Saturday, September 19, 2015, in Milwaukee. No one can tell me what I can or cannot say as long as I’m not verbally abusive. “He didn’t looked to be flustered with guys on base. It was just like another day at the yard”.

Milwaukee got back within a run on Rogers’ solo home run in the bottom of the inning, but right-hander Aroldis Chapman closed the door in the ninth, locking down his 31st save of the year. LaMarre left Sunday’s game with a strained right hamstring.

DeSclafani gave up five runs (four earned) and eight hits in 4 1-3 innings. “Just kind of got the best of me”.

Joey Votto had his two-game suspension reduced to one game and is serving it on Friday in Milwaukee. Votto was suspended for confronting umpire Bill Welke in a September 9 game. Eugenio Suarez scored on the double to tie the game 7-7.

Jay Bruce and Jason Bourgeois both would tally solo home runs respectively for the Reds in the contest.

Votto then lined a two-run home run, his 28th of the season, to center.

Burke Badenhop (2-4) got the win.

On Thursday, pitcher Jimmy Nelson was hit in the head with a line drive and ended up spending two nights in the hospital. To put in perspective how rapid Finnegan’s rise has been, Reds fans can take a casual glance at the college pitcher Cincinnati selected just two picks after Finnegan, as Nick Howard spent the bulk of the 2015 season allowing a run an inning in A ball.

The Brewers had a 6-3 lead after Santana’s home run, but Taylor Jungmann surrendered a two-run homer to Todd Frazier in the top of the sixth and Jeremy Jeffress later allowed an inherited runner to score, tying the game. If that occurs, it will be the first time since Oct. 3-4, 1913 (doubleheader on Oct. 3) when the Washington Senators (Jim Shaw, Joe Boehling, Mutt Williams) faced the Boston Red Sox (Dutch Leonard, Earl Moseley, Fred Anderson) at Griffith Stadium, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Hamilton originally suffered the injury in August and was placed on the DL, but returned September 8.

“It was a rough night”, said manager Craig Counsell, whose team has lost eight successive games and dropped back into last place in the National League Central.

Kudos to the Reds for following suit and trading Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake for players with more upside than what they likely would have received from someone drafted at the end of Round 1.
