Fiorentina loan Gomez to Besiktas

Besiktas have confirmed the signing of Mario Gomez from Fiorentina on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Last season, in fact, Gomez hit the back of the net just four times in the Italian top flight in what was an incredibly disappointing campaign for the German striker.

“Besiktas announce that Thursday the club reached an agreement with Fiorentina for the loan of Mario Garcia Gomez, a statement read on the club’s website”.

The deal is rumoured to be costing the Super Lig membership round £four.2m, with a three-year contract on the desk for Gomez.

Ahead of Senol Gunes’ first season in charge, Gomez would likely serve as a replacement for striker Demba Ba, who signed for Shanghai Shenhua last month.

The 30-year-old joins a number of high-profile names to move to Turkey this season, including Robin van Persie, Lukas Podolski and Nani.

The former Germany global was once one of the most lethal strikers on the planet as he scored 75 goals in 115 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich.
