The complainant Zaheer Ali Khan, Muqeeth Khan of Hyderabad claimed that Priya Prakash Varrier’s song “Manikya Malaraya Poovi” which when translated in English refers to romance between Prophet and his wife. And the best example to serve its popularity is the latest sensation the 18-year old Priya Prakash Varrier’s gestures that did wonders across the nation. Continuing with their exchange of glances and gestures, she “shoots” him a kiss and he pretends to fall dead.

That’s how it worked out.
Priya, who belongs to Thrissur in Kerala, is ecstatic. Abdul Muqeet an engineering student, told reporters that he noticed the objectionable part of the song while listening to it on the internet.
But Priya’s viral song has rubbed a few people the wrong way too. The director just wanted to capture some cute expressions from me and Roshan (her co-actor).
The complaint has been documented at Falaknuma Police station in Hyderabad. The police will, reportedly, take the opinion of Islamic scholars before proceeding further with the case. We told you how a fringe group is looking for a ban on the song as it hurts their religious sentiments.
Talking about becoming an overnight sensation, Varrier said that it has been an overwhelming experience. “I am very happy but I don’t know how to handle so much love”.
Priya’s debut film, releasing next month, is written and directed by Omar Lulu, and produced by Ousepachan Vaalakuzhy under the banner of Ousepachan Movie House. “If it was not objectionable then, how has it become objectionable now?”

According to an interview that Priya gave to NDTV on February 13, she said that the wink was spontaneous and not planned. They (two actors) are awesome. Annie Raja said there were more important issues for the community to flag such as education of young girls.
