Fire breaks out at Make in India event

However, no casualties were reported. Suddenly I saw a lot of smoke, but all the members backstage thought that it was just a part of the act. Right from Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis to Bollywood personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Shreyas Talpade, Vivek Oberoi, Isha Koppikar among others graced the mega do. The dancers, apparently unaware of the danger, kept dancing.

“By that time there was smoke everywhere and the flames had jumped to the stage”. However, the fire department added that the reason behind the fire has not been confirmed yet, a report in Mumbai Mirror said. The police managed the evacuation well.

The blaze broke out of sparklers during a Lavani performance on the state at around 8:15 PM. “Program called off”, Fadnavis said in a series of tweets. All dignitaries and performers were aware of the various emergency exits. At least two fire tenders and some water tankers were already stationed at Chowpatty for meeting any contingency. “We need to understand that going forward, production is likely to gravitate towards where skills are available”, Baba Kalyani, Chairman of Bharat Forge, said at a session in the ongoing Make in India week here today. A possible shortcircuit caused the fire. We will investigate both possibilities.

“Seeing the fire breakout from so up close at Makein India was really scary!” On Sunday evening, the world saw what we are made of as news channels interrupted regular programming to bring viewers footage of incident: it spread life wildfire across the screen. The event had to be discontinued and quick evacuation was done by Mumbai police and organizers. The doctors confirmed that none of the patients sustained any burn injuries.

The massive fire at “Make in India” event in Mumbai shocked everyone present at the venue. “I was out looking for my vehicle when this happned, hope everyone is safe”, said Prasoon Joshi. “There were over 1,000 people backstage in the green rooms or waiting for their turn to perform”. The fire was doused within half an hour of its eruption and all the guests were given safe passage. As soon as the recital got over, I left the venue and another event started and suddenly the fire broke out. Fire now totally under control.

“Venue was evacuated immediately”. Traffic management allowed early dispersal without any trouble.
