Quoting Dubai Customs, Dubai Media office tweeted that trade movement on the Creek is back to normal.
“The operations room received a call about the fire at 3:04pm”.
He continued: “One of the two boats was a wooden dhow, while the other was fibre glass, which required a special type of foam to contain. As of now, there are two boats on fire, but we can’t say anything about the damages as yet”, he said, adding there was no news on whether people had been injured or killed.
“The fire spread because of multi-cargo on the shore”.
Meanwhile, Col Rashid bin Massam Al Buflaseh, DCD General Director Office Manager, said: “The electric items, such as refrigerators and washing machines had compressors that made the situation even more hazardous”. Latest reports claim at least four boats were on fire.
Three Civil Defence fighters were also treated for dehydration.
It was not immediately clear what sparked the blaze, which spread to boxes and crates of merchandise stacked up along the quay.
A video released on YouTube shows the blaze spreading into other boats, while thick smoke could be seen billowing from the scene. Police urged motorists to avoid the area if possible.

The cargo on the two boats was headed to Iran, according to owners of the cargo and rescue officials.
