Fire forces evacuation of Delaware’s Legislative Hall
The flames that ripped through Legislative Hall in Dover on Wednesday, have been ruled as accidental. A city spokeswoman says it may not reopen until Monday, but a final decision hasn’t been made yet.

Firefighters from several jurisdictions arrived at the building Wednesday afternoon. According to the report, the exhaust pipe caused nearby combustibles in the attic to ignite, during a full load test of the generator.
Smoke could be seen billowing out of the top floor of the three-story building.
The backup generator was not involved in the blaze, she said.

No other injuries were reported and the amount of damage caused by the fire is now unknown. The fire was placed under control around 3:40 p.m. A police officer was rushed to Kent General Hospital where he was treated and released. A Little Creek firefighter was also treated at the scene. He does say the worst damage is the water damage to the walls and ceilings. More information will be released when available, Sass said.
