LOWER LAKE, Calif. (AP) – Wildfires are charging through several states in the parched West, scorching homes and forcing people to flee.

There are more than a dozen fires burning across Northern California. “The Forest Service report reinforces the arguments in favor of a comprehensive solution to address fire spending and our firefighting strategies”. Several families who just gotten back into their homes from last week’s evacuations on Sunday were ordered out again.

Its cause is under investigation, but there was lightning in the area when the fire started. At the time, the crew is at Fork Complex, the site of five major fires in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

As Cal Fire ramped up efforts to fight Lake County’s newly raging Jerusalem Fire, estimated at 5,000 acres and growing, sheriff’s deputies arrested a Lake County man suspected of starting a separate fire in the area in an attempt to protect his marijuana garden, sheriff’s officials said Monday. It is close in proximity to where the Rocky Fire has been burning for more than a week.

The fire, which has consumed 6,780 acres, started around 10 a.m. Saturday in Mohave County.

What she thought to be a dust devil was actually the rapidly moving Willow Fire, which affected almost 7,000 acres of land near the Arizona border over the weekend.

The fire has burned within 200 yards of some of the homes that remain evacuated.

The hearth is about midway between Temecula and Palm Desert. The fire is only 8-15 percent contained.

By Monday evening, the blaze had split into two separate burn areas, meaning firefighters had to battle it on two fronts, fire chief Richard Cordova said.

Michael Hallenbeck, 21, of Shingle Springs, California, was hit Saturday during the initial attack on a fire that broke out south of the Echo Summit mountain pass.

“We’re definitely encouraged by what we’re seeing right now”, said Dolores Garcia, a Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman.
