‘Firewatch’ (ALL) Coming to Xbox One Soon, Adds Free Roam

Now available on PC and PS4, Firewatch is coming to Xbox One on September 21st! However, at PAX West, developer Campo Santo revealed that along with the release, an update will be given for free across all platforms. First released earlier this year on PlayStation 4 and PC, the first-person mystery title follows protagonist Henry, a married man who has taken a job as a fire lookout in 1980’s Wyoming after his other half has been diagnosed with early-onset dementia. The game will launch with The Firewatch Audio Tour, a free update for the game which is described in the official blog post as “one part scavenger hunt, one part museum tour, one part game dev workshop, mixed with a dash of inside Campo Santo goofs”.

They explain a little more about the mode on Xbox Wire, too. The tour will include stories of the game’s development and commentary from Rich Sommer (Henry) and Cissy Jones (Delilah). Including what decisions Campo Santo made during the process of development of Firewatch.

Furthermore, we’re going to be rolling out a free-roam mode to all customers, beginning with Xbox One (again, you asked!). Players are able to freely explore Shostone with a “few hidden secrets” thrown into the mix, as well as a dynamic day/night cycle, and it should be nice for people who already completed the game to get another look at it.
