A new report from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warns that those innocent-looking bottle-rockets and sparklers pose outsized risks to kids and account for almost a quarter of all fireworks injuries.

But for those who choose to use fireworks at home, the fire department has recommended some basic safety tips. Most people do not realize that the tip of a sparkler can burn up to as hot as 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit.

“We encourage people to go to fireworks displays where it’s safe”, he said. “Definitely want to leave it to the professionals”, said Paul Jacques of the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts. “Read the instructions; they tell you exactly what to do”.

” Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishap. It’s in our history, but make sure that you’re using them safely so that we can all enjoy them next year together”.

“You should only light one sparkler at a time”.
