Firing by Indian forces injures Kashmiri couple in 70s
The UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein, last week said he had “grave concerns” over alleged human rights abuses and asked India and Pakistan to grant UN observers access to Kashmir to interview interview victims, witnesses and security forces.

Anas Sarwar said: “The ongoing human rights abuses in Kashmir should be a concern to the global community”.
These two top officers had the usual suspicions about the Pakistani military’s ability to nix any peace proposal that could have found a favourable response from the civilian leadership in Islamabad.
The bold decision of Modi to get tough with Pakistan on the issue of its troops killing hundreds of innocent people of these areas and the current uprising in PoK, Gilgit, Baltistan and Balochistan has come as a major shift in India’s policy towards Pakistan as for the past almost 70 years India had remained silent on the issue while Pakistan left no stone unturned to malign India at various global forums.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the world’s largest bloc of Muslim countries, on Saturday said that Kashmir is “not an internal problem of India but an worldwide issue”, according to a top Pakistani official.
The adviser said that during the meeting, they stressed the need of intensifying cooperation among the OIC countries and constructive exchange of ideas to address the increasing trends of Islamophobia and defamation of religions.
“What kind of life is this, inspired by terrorism?” He said that in the last 40 days, more than 80 Kashmiris have been martyred, 6000 injured and over a hundred have lost their eyesight due to pellet guns firing.
He accused Bugti of “getting funds from Indians”, alleging “that’s why he supported Modi’s statement”.
He mentioned how India was “devastated” to hear about the killing of students in an army school in Peshawar. This is our culture of humanity.
“This is our nature, but look at the other side”. Instead of making promises, he dwelt more on the government’s achievements.
In his letter, the foreign secretary also underlined the importance of bringing to justice all those guilty in Pakistan for the attacks in Mumbai and at Pathankot airbase. Many have died in the custody of the army and police.
He said curfew was lifted from Pampore town on Monday in view of the improving situation.
The official said restrictions on the movement of the people were in force in rest of the Valley.

Similarly, Modi said, while it took six to eight months to get a passport, it just takes a couple of weeks now even though around two crore people apply for it annually now compared with around 20,000 earlier.
