She said that looking at the existing film and audiotape of Jackie, she and her team noticed that her voice and her presence were very different. Elegantly mounted, Jackie is an intelligent movie with Natalie Portman essaying the troubled lady living through grief after President Kennedy was shot dead in Dallas as he drove in an open auto – something the American Secret Service was vehemently opposed to.

In a press conference at the Venice Film Festival, Portman, 35, told reporters that the role was one of the most challenging in her acting career, even describing it as “dangerous” to portray such a famous figure.

“I’m not American and not necessarily attached to their history. but I felt this was a very handsome and intriguing story”, he said.

The Oscar winning Portman told a media conference after the screening that “playing Jackie felt somewhat risky, because everyone knows what she looked like, sounded like and has kind of an idea of her. the role was terrifying, because I never really thought of myself as a great imitator…”

Variety also had a lot of love for Jackie and praised Portman’s performance, which the publication believes “may just trump her Oscar-winning turn in Black Swan”. Natalie’s portrayal of the complex titular character has also received rave reviews.

With Jackie, Pablo Larraín makes a fearless choice by retelling this story exclusively through the eyes of Jacqueline Kennedy, casting Natalie Portman in a lead performance that is deeply intelligent and carefully measured.
