First Corbyn had #Traingate, now Owen Smith’s in hot water over #Lunaticgate

Smiling after he received a large round of applause, he added: “The only people who raised this question at the time were the Daily Mail”.

Corbyn’s campaign was also upset with Mr Smith, who faces off with Corbyn for the Labour leadership in September.

He said: “I’m sick and exhausted of debate in this party right now that paints some people who support Jeremy as a sort of purest of the pure, principle filled and the rest of us who are saying “we’ve got to win Jeremy, and we’re anxious we’re at a lower ebb than we’ve been since 1982″ are somehow sell-outs or people who are willing to trade our principles, compromise them for power – rubbish”. He’s not bothered about the result.

Mr Smith appeared to make reference to the issue in a Twitter post which read: “My campaign remains on track”.

She said: “Whilst the Labour party continues to tear itself apart with its ongoing leadership election, the Conservatives are getting on with running the country and ensuring that we follow through with the nation’s decision and making a success of the fantastic new opportunities it presents”.

Greenwood admitted that even though she had not backed Corbyn for leader a year ago she “tried to make it work” for the nine months she served under him.

But Smith accused Corbyn of not doing enough to shut down abuse.

The latest row blew up after Left-wing union boss Ronnie Draper, who leads the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union, was suspended by Labour’s ruling National Executive Committee.

Mr Smith claimed during a hustings in Glasgow on Thursday night that the party north of the border had gone backwards under Mr Corbyn’s watch and he had failed to win back support for the SNP.

A LABOUR government would reverse the Tory cuts to arts funding by increasing tax on the top 0.3 per cent of earners, Jeremy Corbyn will announce today.

“Labour party members will not accept what appears to be a rigged purge of Jeremy Corbyn supporters,”said McDonnell. We want a fair and open election”.

And in it, she claims the Labour leadership candidate “wasn’t there” during the hard work to keep Britain’s steel industry alive. Ms De Piero says Mr Corbyn was unable to reach ex-Labour voters who had switched to the Tories in former industrial areas.

McDonnell questioned why Draper had been suspended while the Labour peer David Sainsbury had had no action taken against him after Electoral Commission figures showed he had donated £2.1m to the Liberal Democrats in the first quarter of this year, as well as the same sum to Labour. He was also Labour’s biggest donor in the three-month period, contributing 2.15 million pounds.
