What happens next in the effort to settle Prince’s murky estate?

Bremer Trust will be in charge of Prince’s estate for up to six months, or until another administrator can be chosen. A source with first-hand knowledge of the discussions about Prince’s estate said the initial meeting between the siblings was contentious and ended in shouting.

They report that the only way to get into the vault was to drill it open as only the singer knew the code.

His relatives are also seeking control of the lucrative Prince brand – including his NPG record label, the thousands of unreleased songs that the musical genius is believed to have left behind, his collection of MadCat Hohner Telecasters and other guitars.

Although Jackson and Prince hadn’t spoke for years, Wheaton said the late superstar had always been “courteous and loving” to his siblings. She also took Prince to court in 2001 over his handling of their father’s estate.

The process will be smoother if all the siblings work together and avoid litigation, Younger said.

Most of Prince’s siblings attended the hearing in Minnesota, during which Eide didn’t offer many clues as to how the probate case might be settled.

He says if he had it his way, any music Prince wrote or produced that has been hidden away should be released to the public. “Even things that Alfred has had to go through, we know that some of them were not purposeful”.

Princes sister, Tyka Nelson, left, greeted fans during a Prince Block Party Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Sabathani Community Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Little is known about Norrine Nelson, but Sharon Nelson pursued a music career in New York City and released a CD in 2009 called “57th Street Sound”, according to Amazon.com.

Some 10 lawyers representing various participants made appearances in the courtroom. The first probate hearing in the case is set for May 2. It’s expected that Prince’s estate, worth an estimated $300 million, will be divided between Nelson and his five half-siblings, if state law is followed.

But court officials said these initial estate hearings tend to be routine.

Nelson arrived at the Carver County courthouse Monday morning and was peppered with questions from the media, which she did not answer. Both are children of John L. Nelson and Mattie Della Shaw, who divorced when Prince and Tyka were young and have since died. The administrator is charged with locating and protecting the assets and notifying any heirs in line for a share of the estate.
