First lady Michelle Obama appears with US Olympians
In partnership with DC Public Schools, College Success Foundation and Teach For America, UNCF’s College Signing Day is an extension of UNCF’s mission of providing the necessary resources to get students to and through college. The first lady has hosted College Signing Day to celebrate high school seniors choosing to pursue higher education at a professional training program, a community college, or a four-year college or university.

First lady Michelle Obama will be celebrating her third annual College Signing Day at New York City’s Harlem Armory on Tuesday, with more than 4,000 high school students from across New York in attendance.
“I didn’t want to hear my voice in class. I don’t want you to be that”, she said.
She recounted her experience starting at Princeton University, in Princeton, New Jersey, where she initially felt out of her depth as a first-generation college attendee until she reached out for support.
Muhammad, who qualified for Rio in saber, said she found out only a few hours earlier that she’d be fencing with Mrs. Obama.
Obama told the students the goal wasn’t just to get into college, but to get a degree. “Because it’s always been this big school everyone talks about and I just love how it’s in its own city”.
Actor Robert De Niro, “Girls” star Allison Williams, and Allan Houston and Carmelo Anthony from the Knicks showed up to cheer on the kids.
“I liked that she encouraged us to ask for help”. With the #ReachHigher initiative, FLOTUS is hoping to bring the USA back to the #1 global spot for highest concentration of college graduates. She said she was thrilled to be cheered on by such famous faces.
