First Look at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Characters
Pictures released on Tuesday show the family together for the first time as they pose ahead of the play’s preview next week.

In the first of three sets of Charlie Gray’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child portraits, joining the previously announced Jamie Parker as Harry Potter are Poppy Miller who will play Ginny Potter and Sam Clemmett who will play Albus Potter. He is pictured wearing plain dark robes, without hinting at which houses he is sorted into.
In the photo, Parker sports Potter’s signature spectacles and thunder bolt scar on the forehead.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part One and Part Two open at the Palace Theatre in London on July 30, with previews taking place from June 7. Rowling added, “I think a lot of people would like to have Poppy’s Ginny for a mother”.
Rowling said: “He simply is Harry now”. “There’s a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right.’ She also expressed her fondness for Miller, describing her as ‘kind and cool, exactly as I imagined her”.
New play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set 19 years after the end of the books, with Harry now an overworked employee at the Ministry of Magic, juggling his career with being a dad to three children.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, written by playwright Jack Thorne, is based on a story by him, Rowling, and director John Tiffany. It is a two-part play, which is recommended to be seen on the same day or on two consecutive evenings. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: “sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places”, the play’s website says.
