The big twist, for those who don/u0027t know it, is that the awful, near-apocalyptic timeline was the result of Barry Allen traveling back in time to save his mother from being murdered by the Reverse-Flash. Wally West may have gained his powers in a completely different fashion. The premiere is titled “Flashpoint”, a nod to the comic book series which saw the Scarlet Speedster change history (but not for the better) after he made a decision to save his mother’s life. If you observe further, you can see he also has his own unique insignia that is colored differently from Barry Allen’s and the lightning bolt itself has somewhat of a different shape.

Ever since Keiynan Lonsdale debuted as Wally West in season two of The Flash, we knew he would eventually gain super-speed and help Barry Allen fight villains as the Fastest Teen Alive. Which makes it pretty much likely to feature Wally as Flash in the first episode of season 3. Moreover, it’s unclear if the show will be calling him Kid Flash, or whether they’d give him another moniker.

Now it appears as The Flash season 3 gets started with filming this week that Wally is finally ready to become a speedster. Being a speedster, Wally is connected to the Speed Force, just like Barry Allen.

How did Kid Flash get his powers in the comics?

In the first photo that was released for “The Flash” Season 3, Lonsdale was seen seemingly running.

It’s the TV show’s condensed version of Flashpoint, the popular DC Comics storyline from 2011 in which The Flash’s fudging of the timeline has serious real-world repercussions.
